Here are some small leather handbags that I have made using braided leather construction. Most all of my purses and handbags are made using moccasin cowhide leather that is about 4 ounces thick. I can usually make these bags about any size that someone would like.

This small leather purse is 7" long and 4" high. I use large brass zippers on most everything that I make. The tassels can be made any length. On this one they are quite long.
I make many variations of the small leather handbags below in various sizes. Usually they are made large enough to hold a check book. The four strand braided shoulder straps can be made any length.
The small leather handbag on the left is 7" long with a 5" diameter. I've been informally calling it my 'barrel bag'. It has a pocket on each end of it. On the right is one that is larger and made with with a braided shoulder strap. It is 9" long with a 5" diameter. It also has the braided circle applique. These braided shoulder straps can be made to any length. Both of these bags have large brass zippers (#10 YKK).

This small leather handbag also has a large brass zipper (#10 YKK) that is covered by a flap that has a roll button closure. It has a pocket on the front under the flap. At the request of the buyer, it has no handle or strap. It is about 9" wide by 6" high, but, can be custom made to any dimensions. The back piece, larger than the front piece, is gathered at the seam to form the third dimension of the bag.
